The Definitive Guide to Care.com: 2020 Edition

There was a time when looking for a prophet or home care provider you had to contact a family friend or trusted young person from your family or a neighbor to take care of the house.

Similarly, in order to find work for these caregivers, they have historically relied on word of mouth or posting of bees around town.

Fortunately, Care.com exploded at this point and provided a way for families and caregivers to connect with each other to fill open home care positions.

We're here to explain what Care.com is, how much it costs, and how you can reach out for help if you have any questions.

  • Childcare: Care.com is by far the most popular option, however, to provide educational assistance, full-time nanny jobs, day care, special needs assistance, and even someone to cover date nights. Also available.
  • Senior Care: Home care in the elderly, peer care, food preparation, and people traveling to and from doctor's appointments are also available for family members and caregivers.
  • Pet Care: Experienced pet sitters are available to look after your pet when you are away, dog walkers take it for walks, tutoring, or training it. Also for trainers.
  • Home care: Other help options include light camping, doing odd jobs around the house, signaling, or even being a personal assistant.

How Much Does it Cost?

The cost of Care.com will depend on if you are a care seeker or caregiver, and also what membership status you sign up for. Outside of the membership fee, the cost of each job will be decided on the basis of the payer's rate of care between the two parties.

To give you a better idea, let's first take a look at the costs associated with caring for a home.

Care Seeker Costs

Signing up to use Care.com is free, however, if you want access to the functionality beyond the basic features you will need to sign up for the premium level.

With the basic membership plan, you can post jobs to find a possible fit for your job and search for free through care profiles. You can also list your job and start receiving applications, however, there are some basic membership restrictions.

For example, with Basic Subscription you are only allowed to preview messages you receive from applicants. Because you can only view part of the message, you will not be able to fully communicate with the applicant

Other materials you may not have access to include professional references, the applicant's full profile, contact information, and applicant user reviews.

As you can see, basic membership access is very limited and makes it almost impossible to decide.

With a premium subscription, you will have access to all the information and resources you need to decide with confidence what care you will take. You'll be able to see complete profiles, contact information, reviews, and professional references.

A premium subscription is required to find your carer and it comes at a price. Below you have a choice of three different payment options.

  • 12 months: month 13 every month
  • 3 months: $ 26 per month
  • 1 month: month 39 every month

Costs associated with background checks that you may also need to consider. A background check on applicants will ensure that you are dealing with reliable and responsible care. We strongly encourage you to run background checks on your prospective supervisors to ensure overall secure transactions.

To get a background check through Care.com, you have to decide between one of the following three:

  • Criminal record check
  1. Cost: Prem 59, or free if you upgrade to Premium.
  2. Covered: It checks against five criminal databases.

  • Criminal records check + motor vehicle records
  1. Costs:. 79
  2. Covered: This is like the above checks, as well as license status, driving records, and traffic violations.
  • Investigative Criminal Plus Check
  1. Cost: $ 300
  2. Covered: Ideal option for those who don't want to take anything. It looks at 11 different criminal databases.
Lastly, one of the remaining costs you will pay is the rates that each caregiver provides. These rates will depend on the caregiver's experience and type of work.

To give you an idea, Care.com provided an average rate of workers for specific jobs on its platform. Here are some of the more popular jobs and rates associated with each.

  • Childcare: $ 11.75 / hour
  • Nanny: 75 12.75 / hour
  • Housekeeping: .00 13.00 / hr
  • Tuition: .2 14.25 / hour
Now, what if you were to take care of a family instead of taking care of it? Does it cost workers anything to join the site and find a job?

Caregiver Costs

As a caregiver, it will cost something. For starters, there is a basic and premium membership that caregivers can choose.

Basic membership has almost everything you need to find a job at Care.com, however, there can be some tough competition for students after the job. This gives care.com a great opportunity to serve you in paying a premium membership.

When you enroll in a premium membership, you will receive many benefits that are only included in the basic membership. For example, as a premium member, you will be ranked higher than others in search results, and families will be allowed to view your profile first.

Also, before you can see any core members, you'll receive email notifications about newly posted jobs. Another benefit is that you will be able to see your family when they view your profile. Finally, you receive a free background check paid through Care.com, which will make your profile look stronger.

While the premium option obviously comes at a price, it's not clear how much it will really cost you. In addition to just premium membership tires, you are also eligible to pay a little extra cash to get potential employers' attention on your profile and application.

Care.com has developed a credit system that allows caregivers to apply for jobs to increase their chances of getting a gig. By purchasing and using credit on qualifying applications, caregivers become one of five people who can apply for this particular job.

This greatly increases your chances of making a choice as you will have to pay a certain amount of credit to apply, which will reduce the amount of competition. You can buy credit through your profile at the following prices:

  • 10 credits for cred 9 (credits only $ 0.90)
  • 25 credits for cred 19 (credit 0.76 per credit - savings of 16%)
  • 50 credits for cred 29 (6 0.56 - 36% savings in each credit)
Although you don't have to pay to use Care.com as a caregiver, it will increase your chances of getting a job quickly. After your first gig, your subscription will be paid soon. We will say that it is probably advisable to invest in premium membership or at least some credit.
